No this is not a book thing. It has been edtablished that students learn non verbal spells in movie 6. You have to be good at it to do it. Sometimes its easier to say it to avoid it not working.

Well done. I hated so much about this movie, but I think the worst was what they did to Jacob and Queenie. The first movie showed that Queenie reads minds constantly and she is a wise, good, kind person ("You need a giver, not a taker") -- yet suddenly she thinks she has to roofie Jacob and she believes and admires Grindlewald. This is one of the top (bottom?) 5 worst movies I have ever seen, especially considering expectations and budget. Absolutely horrible, with no redeeming moments, not an easy level of awful to achieve.

Queenie using the love potion was beyond wrong, almost villainous, no different than the elder Lestrange basically raping Leta's mother by taking away her choice, Queenie took away Jacob's! They turned her into some obsessed wench! You wouldn't know Tina and Queenie were close sisters seeing as Tina didn't seem to show any type of reaction to her sister siding with Grindelwald! Nor do you understand when Tina and Newt ever showed any hint of romantic chemistry, they just have Newt talking about her all the time and Tina upset with him for some strange reason as if Newt ruined her life or something, it was forced, you know they'll end up together but you don't actually get why! They put too many different storylines in one movie, that was their problem!

I loved this movie so I was armed and ready but he made a perfect point. It was mostly the hollywood crap that they used for shock appeal or to get a quick laugh. There were a lot of little irritating things about this movie but otherwise I thought it was a great "filler" leading up to the next couple movies. It had a lot more depth than the first one and the acting was incredible. The choreography and the feel of the film was brilliant. It was definitely entertaining and JK Rowling knows exactly what she wants to do with it...these movies are her first experience writing a screenplay...so everyone needs to chill tf out! :)

  23. 999SickBoy666

    999SickBoy66628 日 前

@Fifenfurter I don't think the books are bad, I think they're good, cheap entertainment but definitely not great literature. About screenwriting: yes, the FORMAT is entirely different and, sure, the story may need to be condensed but the problems with these movies have nothing to do with the screenplay format and very little to do with the story needing to be condensed: there are basic rules of storytelling - especially on the way the plot is put togheter - being ignored here. It's a George-Lucas-writing-the-SW-prequels level of fuck up.

  24. Fifenfurter

    Fifenfurter29 日 前

@999SickBoy666 Everyone's entitled to their opinion but I can tell you from personal experience that it is not the same. I've been told by several English professors that I should write professionally but when I attempted to write a screenplay for my senior project I realised I did not know at all what I was doing and needed training. Im not a professional but the format is completely different and the story has to be condensed. Maybe JK Rowling actually needs to take a course on this. Its just a different skill which is why I think we should give her a break. I have to wonder why you even bothered watching Fantastic Beasts or commenting though when you think the books aren't good.

  25. 999SickBoy666

    999SickBoy66629 日 前

Ehm, no. "Her first experience writing a screenplay" is no excuse: narrative and story telling abide to the exact same set of rules regardless if you're writing a screenplay, a novel, a short story or a comic book. The storylines in this movies are so muddled and the narrative so unfocused that's hard to believe this is the same person who wrote the HP series (not that those books were particularly well written but they _were_ clear, focused and pretty well balanced). Also, Rowling has been working in movies long enough that, while this may be her first experiences at actually writing a screenplay, she definitely had all the chance in the world to understand the specifics of how writing for the screen works.

dbh its sinworthy how in that time black ppl are allowed in the same restaurants let alone sit on the same table in these restaurants as whites.... its a prequel right? and when dumbledore is that young in this stuff excluding racism is weird ... or are we believed that the HP universe is set in a world that is not based on the real world where racism did never existed?

  34. Grass

    Grassヶ月 前

Is it just me, or is Grindelwald too old in this movie? I thought he and Dumbledore were friends as rambunctious teens, and about the same age. Johnny Depp is almost 10 years older than Jude Law. If they REALLY wanted those actors for the part, fine, but then why did they go out of their way to make Depp look even older than he actually is? Now we have a Grindelwald that looks like he's about 70 years old, and a Dumbledore that looks shy of 50. From this movie's depiction, it looks as though a teenage Dumbledore was groomed into a relationship with a genocidal sexual predator while dealing with the grief of losing his loved ones, which is so much worse than the reality that it's worth troubling over.

  44. Sean Wilson

i'd like to exposite a theory, Jeremy. that pretty much all this magical expansion 18:04 is literally creating a space somewhere in the universe and the hole that led to the amphitheater is a portal or a wormhole like in outer space, which they can control the destination. so these witches and wizards can literally just create their own space. which rules out the need for "magical probate court." cuz it's like they're literally masters of the universe.
