CinemaSins & Mental Health America

May is Mental Health Month, and it's a subject that means a lot to us here at CinemaSins
In fact, we’re partnering with Mental Health America (MHA) to not only to raise awareness of mental health issues - but also to raise a little money, too. We’ve got two brand-new CinemaSins t-shirts in the shop, and all of the profits from the sale of the shirts will be donated to our friends at MHA. You can check out the shirts here (
If you’d like to learn more about mental health, you can check out the mental health month toolkit here ( MHA’s got mental health screening tools and detailed information about certain behaviors that could indicate mental illness.

I 100% support the idea that it is about what we can do for ourselves. Therapy is great and life-saving... But you've got to find your own solutions too. Love you all xxx P.S. if anyone is having a bad night I recommend watching Donald Trump and Hilary Clinton singing "Shallow" together xxx

I love that you somehow made this video with your usual tongue-in-cheek sassy-ness but still sincerely supported mental health awareness. As someone who was diagnosed with a mental illness at 4 years old and has spent the last 31 years figuring out what the heck to do with my brain... I applaud you, CinemaSins. For that and for also assuring that I will never not notice an asshole eating an apple ever again.

Mental health issues may be treatable, but I highly doubt any company with "mental health" in the name is aiming to do anything but make them worse. As a psychiatry survivor, I must say, that website looks pretty sketchy. If anyone is having a mental health crisis, I would strongly advise you speak to a friend that you can trust. TRUST is the important factor. You have to be careful who you tell these things to. Some people ( and most mental heath professionals) will use whatever they can against you. If you don't have anyone you can trust in your life, you can message me if you'd like. Also, if you were planning on buying anything from CinemaSins, I'd wait until this partnership is over... EDIT: "Tom Starling, Ed.D is currently on the board of directors of Rolling Hills Hospital, a (concentration camp for political and social dissidents.)" Seriously? THIS is who you're partnering with? IDC how good your vids are. Nothing can excuse such a blatant assault upon the emotionally injured while posing as help and support. Unsubscribing is not strong enough. I wish I could file criminal charges.

I wouldn't be so ready to promote the MHA. Like most non-profits they are run for profit but in the form of those sweet sweet tax breaks. It takes barely any qualification to be a mental health support institution; that is why you see so many non-profits for mental health, cancer, AIDS, animal rights etc. basically whatever bleeding hearts type of movement which can inspire the "feels" as it were. They get the gullible, like CinemaSins, and sing honeyed words of altruism but I can tell you a true story. I have a friend who is totally fucked up in the head, like can barely write or speak because of his advanced mental degradation. He honestly believed that people from an organization like MHA was there to help him. He was wrong and he paid the price, monetarily and physiologically. He was left with less than he had before which was already close to nothing. Don't ever buy that other people want to help out of the goodness of their heart. They don't. Non-profit is another word for scam and if you think otherwise then you are truly ignorant to how the world works. Fuckin' CinemaSins doesn't know shit.

Hey just curious what do you do if someone has mental health issues like depression and suicidal thoughts, but they also have social anxiety? Asking for a friend.

  54. Tanen Renzy

    Tanen Renzy5 ヶ月 前

You seek help from a qualified professional. Do not try to self diagnose. Do not try to use the internet. Someone who is depressed will have a very shaky perception of the world around them which means more often than not they are wrong. If you have suicidal ideation then you should at once seek help from a qualified professional. Someone who has suicidal thoughts has much higher chance of hurting themselves or people close to them. They also possesses a grim perspective on life and that is that it is not worth living which is 100% false. Life, any life, beats death, which is the cessation of existence, by a long shot. There is no middle ground here. Death is bad and life is good. If you believe otherwise then you are a character in a fantasy story or you have that erroneous grim perspective I mentioned. Social anxiety is a very common diagnosis since it encapsulates basically anything and everything that is the modern world. Someone who has social anxiety finds it physically uncomfortable to be around groups of people. They will get violently ill when their anxiety reaches a peak; often vomiting, breaking out into a sweat or having intense mental confusion which can affect their motor skills. If you do not experience anything on this level of malediction then what you are feeling is simple shyness or a societal stigma(like being gay in a primarily hetero environment). I am not a qualified professional. I have helped a lot of people though. Do what you will from here.
